5 things to love about SugarCRM from DocuSign

In a world where the bad taste from the complications of “Enterprise Class” systems still lingers heavily, DocuSign prides itself on being enterprise strong while being consumer easy.  As a result of that, DocuSign integrates with, and connects with countless systems.  In fact it is at the heart of what we do.  Playing nice with other systems isn’t just a nice to have in today’s business world… it is a must have.

When DocuSign partnered with SugarCRM, it was extremely refreshing to see the strength of their platform, and how much it has in common with DocuSign.

Check out the 5 things we love about SugarCRM

1.) Solving a business problem.  SugarCRM, like DocuSign, solves a REAL business problem.  Sounds silly, right?  But it is too easy to take for granted these days.  Solving an ACTUAL pain point, in a useful and flexible way is no easy task.  SugarCRM has done an outstanding job of solving real world CRM problems in a manner that is easy to scale and extremely flexible.

2.) Universality. SugarCRM has mastered this.  They allow you to consume their service in any way you choose.  Choose your stack, your browser, your… whatever.  They support it.  Just like DocuSign, it’s a completely open, independent, standards-based platform. SugarCRM does an amazing job at this.

3.) Easy to get in the shallow end of the pool first. SugarCRM is Open Source, has an easy to approach HTML/JavaScript front end, and you can get up and get going on integrating with them right away.  People simply don’t have the time or patience for complicated solutions that take forever to learn.  SugarCRM is easy to get started with as a partner and their platform grows with your business.

4.) The Community.  SugarCRm has built out a very helpful community. As DocuSign developed our integration with the SugarCRM platform, we leaned heavily on the Community. Wondering about how other people did something? Ask the Community, and there are people that actually respond.  And those people are often SugarCRM users.  It is a REAL community, with REAL involvement from the masses. That is a rare and special thing.

5.) You don’t have to go where no man has gone before. One of the things about Platforms is… well… someone has to be the first to build on it.  It is nice to be an early mover, but you often have to struggle through the process.  When building on an unproven platform, life is tough. This is the opposite of SugarCRM. SugarCRM has passionate people building and extending their platform, and it shows. DocuSign was able to easily and quickly get up and running with our integration. We found help along the way, and never once felt that we were any sort of Canary in a Coal Mine.  SugarCRM has done a great job of making a world-class platform, and it was nice to get the benefit of that.
