A Conversation with Dr. Jane Goodall: “Each One of Us Makes an Impact”

At DocuSign, our employees around the world focus their efforts and resources on our shared goal of strengthening communities and creating a more sustainable planet. Normally this means thousands of our employees in dozens of cities around the world engaging in team-based and individual service activities - from promoting healthy urban forests to helping children in need to supporting isolated seniors. This year, volunteering has looked a bit different with employees volunteering from home and in many cases with their families.

In this next installment of our continuing celebration of Dr. Jane Goodall, you’ll see where we got the inspiration. In this part of the conversation with DocuSign CEO Dan Springer, Dr. Goodall shares her vision for creating a movement of young people to tackle the world’s challenges and how she hopes to engage Silicon Valley in the effort.

Founded by Dr Jane Goodall in 1991, Roots & Shoots is a youth-led, youth-driven programme that operates in fifty countries around the world. Its mission is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire individuals to take action to make the world a better place for animals, people, and the environment.

Young people can apply for grants through Roots & Shoots to complete community projects that align with this mission. In the UK Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots groups are now active in over 1,600 schools.
