Our Team has had the privilege of being involved in Dreamforce for several years and have watched the conference grow form a little under 10,000 attendees to this years estimates 20,000+ attendance. Over the years our team has learned to master the Dev Zone conference experience and we thought it time to share what we have learned with others whether this is your first time attending Dreaforce or whether you are a veteran there is always an opportunity to learn something new.
I know what you’re thinking “What are the key things that I need to do in order to get the maximum value out of DreamForce 2012?” Below we are going to break it down into 4 easy steps.
1) Start getting ready early
I am not talking about the hotel and your plane tickets. I am talking about the content. You are going to have a chance to talk to all the major technology teams that participate in Force.com ecosystem. It’s a waste of time to have a chance to meet with those guys face to face and ask them basic questions. For example if you are looking to dig into DocuSign API – check out www.docusign.com/devcenter before the conference. Try building some prototypes! You will come to our booth with good questions and will be able to get great answers!
2) Use the Agenda Builder
You will have just a few days to soak in a lot of information. Book your sessions early! Trust me – they fill up! Leave a few sessions to something that you have never tried before. Have you never used Heroku? Go see what’s going on with that. DreamForce is a forward thinking developer conference so not everything has to give you business impact right away.
There will be tens of thousands of smart people at this conference and this is your chance to meet some of them face to face. Networking at DreamForce is easy. #1 – networking with sponsors is as easy as coming up to their booth. Networking with other folks can happen in the code labs, at parties or just during the lunch break. If you are a total introvert – get on DreamForce chatter and see what folks are up to there. DocuSign is going to have a big party at Ruby Skye – check that out to meet the DocuSign team, our partners and customers!
4) Do not miss the keynotes
Over the years I was able to see Bill Clinton, Colin Powell, Stevie Wonder and many other extremely inspirational folks. Marc Benioff himself is always visionary and entertaining. This year you will be able to check out Richard Branson, Tony Robbins and many other exciting speakers. Trust me its worth waiting in a long line and arriving an hour early. These are historical figures and seeing these legends talk about your industry is amazing.
I hope this helps you get the value out of the conference. And don’t forget to stop by our Platinum booth on the main expo floor or by our DevZone booth in Moscone Wes. Follow us on Twitter at @DocuSignAPI, Facebook or LinkedIn for up to date news and inforamtion.
