How many people do you see scanning documents each day? Come to think of it, do you even own or know how to use one? Probably not. With every passing week, our dependency on paper wanes as digital processes are introduced into every aspect of our lives.
The Digital Life
Signing a contract. Booking a table at a restaurant. Making a bank transfer. You can do it all digitally. It is embedded in our lives. While this is a relatively easy change to adapt to for an individual, taking an entire business digital can be more challenging and reliant on many more moving parts.
It’s essential for decision makers to identify how businesses are evolving to meet these rapidly changing demands. This applies across all sectors of the economy as they prepare to undertake successful digital transformations.
This is why we at DocuSign launched an investigation. The study looked into digital expectations from both the consumer and business perspectives. The aim was to identify where the main challenges lie for businesses that are trying to deliver the digital experience their customers want, and what action is being taken to meet the demand in the market.
The State of Play
The survey was conducted across the UK amongst 1000 employed consumers and 263 senior decision makers across the Legal, HR, Sales, Finance and IT departments of businesses. According to the research, consumers across every sector of the economy expect to do business digitally.
Here are some of the key findings:
- 88% of consumers expect to complete agreements digitally.
- 59% of consumers believe that the use of paper forms makes a business appear outdated.
- 85% of senior decision makers within businesses are making digital transformation a top priority.
So, what can your business do to keep up with the pace of change?
The Digital Solution
Digital document workflows have become critical to those looking to counteract manual, paper-based processes. Online tools such as electronic signatures are one such tool being used to digitise key functions. They accelerate transaction speed, reduce costs, and improve the customer experience.
