Pride Month at DocuSign

As we celebrate Pride month this year, socially distanced and working remotely from one another, it’s more important than ever for us to stop for a moment and acknowledge what it means to belong. Together we are facing some of the hardest times we have ever faced. The global pandemic has been difficult for us all, and the injustices facing the black community and around the world, are heart wrenching.

It’s not ok. Hate has no home with us.

We need to come together now more than ever, and while our Pride celebrations may be more limited this year, our sense of pride for the LGBTQIA+ community is unabated. Our global Pride ERGs have planned some incredible virtual events, and we’re connecting with our DocuSign IMPACT initiatives to support nonprofits and NGO’s.

We held a special global event where we were joined by the Queen of Ireland herself, the one and only Panti Bliss! Panti Bliss was a leading force behind Ireland’s “Yes” campaign for marriage equality, and has made an enormous impact on the LGBTQIA+ community. During the event, Panti Bliss shared stories and offered advice for organisations focusing on diversity and inclusion. “There’s a tendency to tick the box in June, and then fall by the wayside for the rest of the year,” Panti Bliss said, urging organisations not to put all of their focus on Pride Month. “I’m gay 12 months of the year, and I’m extra gay in June because I’m really good at it.”

Later this month on June 26th, we’re hosting another powerful event called “LGBTIQA+ Conversations on Intersectionality” with Dr. Tyree Oredein. Dr. Tyree is a black, queer activist who believes in bringing awareness to the systemic racism within our queer communities and the ways in which we can bridge those gaps through engaging in dialogues around intersectionality.

The environment we work in and the sense of being able to be who you are has a direct correlation to happiness. Words and actions matter. It’s on all of us to stand up for what’s right and to create an environment where our colleagues can bring their whole selves to work and do the work of their lives. As a gay woman, I know first-hand how much of a difference it makes to have allies in our colleagues.

To the LGBTQIA+ community, we celebrate you this month and every month. To our friends and allies, we thank every one of you for standing alongside us as we stand alongside you.

Thank you team DocuSign for leading with such heart.
