The “We Are DocuSign” blog series places the spotlight on employees from a variety of departments and provides a peek into what it’s like to work at DocuSign.

Q: What do you do at DocuSign?

I lead our Core Product Marketing team. We take new product offerings to market, which means everything from figuring out the strategy around which audience to target and how we position and talk about it… to leading launches including training our field and creating compelling content… and a lot of stuff in between.

Q: What do your friends and family think you do?

They think I work for a really cool company that helped them quickly sign the documents to buy their homes. My grandma even brags to her friends about having a granddaughter at DocuSign.

Q: What is the best thing about working at DocuSign?

My colleagues. From a professional standpoint, I’ve learned a lot from them. They’re experts in their fields and at the top of their game so I feel like I’m always growing by getting to work with them on projects. From a personal standpoint, they are people I like spending time with outside of work. Recently, I helped a coworker celebrate his birthday at Lagunitas, went to another’s housewarming, and grabbed dinner with a colleague who was visiting from our Seattle office. Working with friends makes work all the more enjoyable.

Q: What traits do you most admire in your colleagues at DocuSign?

Their diverse perspectives. DocuSigners come from a variety of different backgrounds: some in tech, some in other industries, all sizes of companies, various countries. The experience they bring to the table is really valuable in helping us consider options and make sound decisions. For example, debating the media strategy for an upcoming product launch… weighing the pros and cons of when & how to announce and then jointly crafting the strongest possible narrative. I feel like I’ve grown as a human being by soaking up some of their expertise.

Q: What traits do you think your DocuSign colleagues most admire in you?

People have told me that they appreciate that I pull teams together. It’s part of the role of product marketing to orchestrate cross-functional teams… or as my colleagues would probably tell me I always say, “Getting everyone paddling in the same direction.”

Q: What is your favourite snack from the DocuSign kitchen?

The LaCroix Pamplemousse. I have at least two of those per day.

Q: Where is your favourite place to work or have a meeting at DocuSign and why?

My favourite place is to go for a walk along the Embarcadero. It’s great to get outside and introduce a new context. I think people are often more open and creative when they’re somewhere else.

Q: What is something your colleagues don’t know about you?

I’m a serial artist: Calligraphy, oil painting, screen printing, figure drawing. I’m taking an oil painting class right now and the instructor is teaching us new painting techniques that I haven’t tried before, like underpainting.

Q: If you were not working at DocuSign and could do anything in the world, what would you be doing/do next?

Own a brewery. I like beers — especially IPAs — and I think it would be fun if the brewery had a tasting room where I could meet new people all the time. I’ve tried my hand at homebrewing, though, and for everyone’s sake, I’d hire professionals for that part.

Q: What is the secret for you to happiness?

Sugar.

A more honest answer would be balance. We work hard at DocuSign. For me, it’s really important to get out and do things other than work.
