July 1st signals a great opportunity for businesses across the EU that are serious about undertaking their digital transformation. This is, of course, the date from which the eIDAS (Electronic Identification and Trust Services for Electronic Transactions in the Internal Market) regulation takes immediate effect and eases the cross-border use of electronic identification systems in Europe.

This means there will be greater clarity regarding which signatures are most appropriate for certain transactions and, as a result, citizens and businesses will have significantly greater trust in the organisations they deal with on a daily basis. Trust will be pivotal to the success of the eIDAS regulation and the organisations that are bound by it, but how can businesses build this successfully?

Trusted Partners

Building trust was a key tenet of MOMENTUM`16 London this year. Customers in Europe want to ensure the technology they are using is compliant before they undertake a digital transaction. They want robust signatures that can be completed from a wide range of platforms. They want the document signing process to be simple.

At this year’s Partner Summit at MOMENTUM`16 London, this issue came to the fore and it is one that we are able to face with a strong answer. Our Standards-Based Signatures give customers the freedom to continue with their work, safe in the knowledge that they are operating in line with the latest compliance regulations. A crucial step towards the European ideal of seamless transactions, across borders. At the same time, our eSignature solution provides the core technology that facilitates the vast majority of secure digital transactions used every day.

DocuSign understands the importance of Europe and we are an international organisation with a local presence, working through our DocuSign Partner Program. So we are very pleased to also announce the extension of our Partner Program, to incorporate Trust Service Provider organisations such as Athens Exchange Group, Intesa IBM and Firmaprofesional amongst the latest to join our ecosystem. These expert partners make it simple for people to sign from any platform, securely, harnessing the power of DocuSign’s technology and supplementing it with the level of local trust that allows businesses to commit to taking operations digital.

The addition of Certifications Authorities and Trust Service Providers (TSPs) means that customers now have proven services such as identity proofing, identity management and document archiving to call upon. This automatically equips a partner to not only complete their business processes successfully, but to earn new business by virtue of benefiting from such a strong program.

The European ProjectBe Boundless: Drive Global Business with eSignatures

This extension of our Partner Program is going to be pivotal in helping businesses across Europe go digital. DocuSign’s investment in technology makes life easier for our customers, regardless of the market conditions that they face. Alongside our TSPs, we are able to enhance the considerable standalone power of DocuSign’s eSignature tool by providing customers with a tailored service, utilising local expertise to retain a simple process across EU member states. With our TSP partners, we will be able to provide more extensive local expertise and trust.

The forthcoming eIDAS regulation will add further weight behind the ideal of the Digital Single Market and the businesses that are able to operate digitally across borders and take full advantage of this, will be the ones that succeed.
